Programming heard on WSPT includes a local morning show called "Portage County Live," Glenn Beck Program, Neal Boortz, Scott Krueger (another local host), Clark Howard, and The Ed Schultz Show. WSPT also carries audio simulcasts of two Fox News Channel shows: Special Report with Bret Baier and the first hour of Fox and Friends; WSPT is one of the only stations (perhaps the only station) to directly simulcast the cable television channel. All Fox News Channel simulcasts were dropped by 2010.
At night and during the weekend, the station plays Adult Standards fed via satellite from Citadel Media's True Oldies Channel brand. Previously, the station used Dial Global's America's Best Music and Citadel's Timeless Favorites.
Original call letters were WTWT when it signed on in 1948, Then WSPT, For many years broadcasting a Top-40 format. In late 1977 the station began airing a country music format as WXYQ, dropping its simulcast with WSPT-FM. The station then became WSPO on 1988-05-30. on 1996-07-06, the station changed its call sign back to the current WSPT.[4]
